Рядовой. В вооружённых силах rank — ряд военнослужащих, стоящих бок о бок, а file — шеренга, колонна. Простых солдат называют other ranks (ORs), т. е. они не офицеры, существуют ещё non-commissioned officers (NCOs) — военнослужащие сержантского состава. Рядовых членов любой группы называют the rank and file, чтобы отличать их от лидеров, начальников.Do political party leaders ever take any notice of what the rank and file think? — Лидеры политических партий когда-нибудь интересуются тем, что думают рядовые члены партии?
